Ghanaian meat pies are similar to empanadas – delicious soft crust filled with either meat , tuna or vegetables. You can go wild with the filling by using creative non-traditional options.

Yields 8 Servings
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 2 packs of minced meat
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 1 green pepper ( finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons of Canola Oil
- 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 8 oz of Butter
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1 Teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup ice-cold Water
Procedure:
1. Sift flour.
2. Mix dry ingredients(flour, salt and nutmeg) with clean hands.
3. Integrate the butter into the flour with the tips of your fingers.
4. Mix until a crumbly mixture is obtained.
5. Add water to the crumbly mixture to form a stretchy dough.
6. Knead the dough by hand for a short duration. Refrain from excessive kneading.
7. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

8. Turn on your oven and set it at 375F.
9. Heat oil in a large skillet Chop the onion and green bell pepper .
10. Add chopped onion and green bell pepper and stir for about 3 minutes.
11. Add minced meat to the mixture and cook for about 9 minutes.
12. Add a little salt and seasoning of choice.
13. Add Corned Beef to onion and garlic and cook for 8 minutes.
14. Bring out the dough from the refrigerator and roll it into flat sheets using quick short, quick strokes.
15. Using a pastry cutter, cut out round shapes.
16. Scoop the minced meat filling onto the center of the round shaped dough.
17. Fold the flour over and seal be pressing the edges with a fork.
18. Pierce the upper part of the meat pie with your fork.
19. Apply whisked egg onto the upper part of the sealed meat pie with a pastry brush.
20. Place on a baking sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining dough.
21. Place meat pies in oven and bake for about 18 min or until golden brown.
